What we store
- Scores: your nickname (or “Anonymous”), best score, level reached and the time it was saved.
- Approximate location: when you set a new best score, we look up the city and country of your internet connection from your IP address (using ip-api.com) and show them on the leaderboard. We don't store your IP address with your score.
- Nickname passcode: if you claim a nickname, we store a scrambled (hashed) version of your passcode, never the passcode itself.
- On your device: the game saves your nickname, best score, sound setting, a random device ID and whether you're 13 or older (not your birth year) in your browser's local storage so it can remember you. Clearing your browser data removes them.
Multiplayer rooms and chat
- In a room, the other players see your signed-in nickname (or a name like “Fox 42”), your fox's position and the chat messages you send.
- Chat messages go straight to the other players in the room. We don't save them, and a room is removed from the server shortly after everyone leaves.
- Chat is only for players 13 and older. The first time you enter a room we ask for your birth year and keep only the answer to “13 or older?” on your device. Players under 13 can still play in rooms, but they can't send or see chat.
- Links are removed from chat messages, and each player can send at most one message a second.
- Please don't share personal details like your real name, school, address or phone number in chat.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how many people play and which pages they visit. It uses cookies and collects information such as your device type, browser, approximate location and the pages you view. We don't send your nickname, passcode or chat messages to Google Analytics. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Advertising and cookies
FoxyRising shows ads from Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to show ads and to measure them, including ads based on your visits to this and other websites.

Visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland are asked for consent before personalized ads are shown.
Children's privacy
FoxyRising is a general-audience game. It is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. We keep things private by default for everyone:
- No account, email or real name is ever needed. Nicknames are optional.
- There are no profiles, friend lists or private messages between players.
- Location is only shown as a city and country, never an exact place.
- Chat is limited to players 13 and older, with links blocked.
Laws that protect children's data include:
- United States: COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act) for children under 13.
- European Union: GDPR Article 8, where parental consent is needed below an age each country sets between 13 and 16.
- United Kingdom: UK GDPR and the Age Appropriate Design Code (the “Children's Code”) for under-18s.
- California: CCPA/CPRA, which gives extra protection to consumers under 16.
If you're a parent or guardian and think your child under 13 has given us personal information, for example in a nickname, contact the site owner and we'll delete it.
Removing your data
To have a nickname and its scores removed from the leaderboard, contact the site owner. Anonymous scores can't be linked to you by name.
